Info links for elections 2023

INEC Nigeria: List of candidates for 2023 General Elections

Here are the Presidential Candidates and their parties (pdf file) also see the Senatorial and House of Reps candidates.  Election day is Saturday 25th February 2023.
Know before you vote.

Governorship and State House of Assembly elections are scheduled for March 11th 2023.  The candidates represent 18 (EIGHTEEN) political parties.
STATE ELECTIONS 2023, CANDIDATE LISTS (pdf)

On election day, you need to take yourself and your PVC (Identification Card called the Permanent Voter's Card) to your designated polling unit, prepared to follow the Election Procedure.

The ballot papers will have many party logos and empty boxes next to them.
logo examples:
some party logos in 2023

ballot sheets in pictures:
this is just an example, not the real 2023 ballot paper

Just carefully use your finger with ink to mark your choice.  Carefully.

An example of voting for LP is here.

As you can see, the candidate names/pics won't be on the ballot paper, you will have just the party acronym and logo and the empty space for your fingerprint/thumbprint, so you have to know what you're doing.

On the day of the national elections, you will have a ballot paper to vote for President, you will have a ballot paper to make your choice for Senate, and another ballot paper to vote for a Representative - that's three ballot papers - so you have to know what you're doing.

Do well o!

Two proposals for deepening democracy (POLITICAL POSITIONS FOR EVERYBODY!!!)

Why not? I mean, the population is "qualified."  AND
 The people are "unemployed" anyway.

Democracy is for the people - not only that, it is BY the people.  WELL,
The people are many.  Let the leadership include "everybody".
Women YES. Men YES. Youths YES. Elders YES YES.
** Come as you are, whether you're a beautician or technician, a technocrat or an extrovert.  Every year, you have a 1% chance of being chosen to serve your society as a politician for the year.

Full Wikipedia entry HERE

The two proposals are 1. Pick randomly.  2.  More winners.

I remember how in school, we had among us class captains, dorm captains, many captains for this and that, many prefects, totalling more than 200 for a group of 2000 students.  About 50 prefects alone.  Society should aim for similar numbers, not just 200 to represent and govern millions - we'll need millions of governors, captains, and leaders.

‘Modernism is built on African art – but that’s never really acknowledged’ … The incendiary Les Demoiselles d’Avignon by Picasso. Photograph: Jorge Zapata/EPA
in The Guardian's recent article on Cultural Appropration : “After Matisse showed Picasso African art for the first time,” he says, “it changed the history of modern art.” This is no hyperbole. It immediately led Picasso to repaint Les Demoiselles d’Avignon, the incendiary canvas he was working on in his ramshackle Montmartre studio, giving three of the five naked sex workers in it “African” masks that set them free from all previous western artistic values and rewrote the rule book about what an image can be.

What's in your WhatsApp? #Africa

Late Robert Mugabe of Zimbabwe said "African education system has surprising outcomes. The smartest students pass with 1st Class and get admission to medical and engineering schools. The 2nd Class students get MBA's and LLB's to manage the 1st Class students. The 3rd Class students enter politics and rule both the 1st Class and 2nd Class students. The failures join the Army and control the politicians who if they are not happy with, they kick out or kill them..... Best of all those who did not attend any schools become prophets or witch doctors and everybody follows them." How interesting.

From #change to #reform

The Guardian interviews rAPC (Reformed, APC) politician.  If APC can say such, what if an opposition party should talk?

Anyway, there are many sides to the story, and the Presidency's people wrote very well about their own side:

MDP is one of OUR youth parties.  Click to see more.

ANN is one of our parties, click to learn more

Let us support more young youths and more female candidates.  We want to learn from the youths that have already pushed forward in the Nigerian public space, so that by next time, the government we vote in will be a government of emancipation.
No time for nonsense.
This one that we're waiting for somebody to announce something somewhere

Another thing, don't criticize.
Get your PVC.  You've done that.
Enter a race.  Yes, if you don't like the way things are, you get in there too and try to create something better.  As we have seen in this election, we are #NotTooYoungToRun.   Now I need to see more female candidates oooooo.  oooooooooooooo.  ooooooooooooooooooooooooooo.  More female candidates.
