As @emilycoxhead once said, “I shall not compare myself to a stranger on instagram”; I will also not compare myself to strangers in real life, people I know, friends, family or anyone really. I compare myself to myself... I compare current me to past me so that I can learn, grow and strive to be a good human. If you’ve been comparing yourself to those on your feed today, or even people around you... STOP! Comparisons do not foster self love. Work on that relationship with yourself, that is what really matters so that the only comparison you make is comparing how much better you feel about yourself now than you did before 💕 #selflove #selfacceptance #selfbelief #ishallnotcomparemyselftoastrangeroninstagram #stopcomparing #comparisons #growth #growthmindset #lovingmyself #growinginlove #selfimprovement #personaldevelopment #laurajaneillustrations

Kalakuta, Megbele

I tried to blog this on a mobile phone and it was awkward (searching and embedding videos works differently there than on the full laptop.)  Shoutout (Thank You!) to AY at Computer Village who helped me get my laptop back in shape :-)

Enjoy!  Music by Sir Dauda and by Omawumi.  You don't need to understand it to feel it, you know?

Fura OR kunu?

Kunu is a refreshing drink.

'Fura da nono' is delightful too.
Now you can tell the difference:

All about Kunu - kunun zaki, kunun gyada, or kunu aya, ... (got mostly from crushing and straining the "milk" from your favourite starch or nut food, to make a cooool drink.

All about fura da nono - the nono (milk, yogurt) is the main actor here.  Fresh from the mama cow, and sold with fura (the starchy millet balls) and sugar.  In the hottest days, you'll neeeeed it.
This is the Hausa name.
In Fulani, it's called kindirimu (or kindirmo?)

Also, resist the urge to pronounce/spell it nunu, as in fura da nunu, which I've heard means something else ;)
Fulani milkmaids.  Click for a funny poem about this...

Which of these drinks is your favourite?
