in The Guardian's recent article on Cultural Appropration : “After Matisse showed Picasso African art for the first time,” he says, “it changed the history of modern art.” This is no hyperbole. It immediately led Picasso to repaint Les Demoiselles d’Avignon, the incendiary canvas he was working on in his ramshackle Montmartre studio, giving three of the five naked sex workers in it “African” masks that set them free from all previous western artistic values and rewrote the rule book about what an image can be.

Administrative note: 

As of yesterday, the last day in 2020, I have changed the name of this blog from Nigeria News Buka to just "News Buka."  

This change reflects my interest in freedom for all the world's people including Africa's people, and my withdrawal of interest from the oppressive characteristics of the 60-year old Nigeria.  

In my opinion, we can retire the idea and the country anytime, maybe even right now, as we seek something better.

Stunting

Globally, 50 million children under 5 were wasted of which 16 million were severely wasted - WHO One of every four children under five in the world today is stunted.

All the wastin' and stuntin' ... no, we're not rapping about "substances" hehehe, we're talking about malnutrition: 
"The first 1,000 days – from the time a woman becomes pregnant to the second birthday of her child – is the most important period of individual human development. This is the time when the foundation for good physical growth is set, when the brain is developing most rapidly, when the immune system is strengthening. What happens in those 1,000 days determines to a large extent the course of a child’s life — his or her ability to grow, learn, work, succeed – and, by extension, the long-term health, stability and prosperity of the society in which that child lives."
