Kwara is Yorubaland?

Explain this South-West and North-West divide - is it about language and ethnicity or what?  Or are the "geopolitical zones" merely developmental/representational regions based on needs or populations?

Isn't Ilorin a Yoruba town?   What other languages are spoken in Kwara State?  Do Kwarans consider themselves Yoruba?

Anyway, one Nigeria.

Talk-Talk in Abuja

Two important conferences began yesterday.

1. The National Conference (see list of delegates, see news updates) is three months long.
Topic: Articulate and possibly Resolve Nigeria's Constitutional Challenges...but we're not splitting up.

2. The 20th NES, Nigerian Economic Summit is three days long.
Topic: Education.  Will push for permanent structural changes that would allow the development of 21st century skills in Nigerian children.

OAU-AU Celebrates 50 Years of Existence.

In May 1963, Sekou Tourรฉ, Leopold Senghor, Gamal Abdel Nasser, Kwame Nkrumah, Abubakar Tafawa Balewa, Modibo Keita, Julius Nyerere, and other (male only) African leaders articulated the founding of the Organization of African Unity (OAU).
The African Union marks landmark anniversary
As the host Haile Selassie said at that historic gathering, "We approach the days ahead with the prayer that we who have assembled here may be granted the wisdom, the judgement and the inspiration which will enable us to maintain our faith with the peoples and the nations which entrusted their fate to our hands."
Nelson Mandela and Muammar Gadaffi
That faith may have been broken time and again, and the reality of Africans may be far from the African Union's ambitious goals, but maybe today it's time to believe again in Pan-Africanism and African Renaissance.

One Nigeria?

Is Nigeria truly ONE and why?

Thanks to two of my facebook friends for their answers. We should meet up for hugs, aka the award ceremony soon?

Tricia thinks NOT. According to her, our ignorance and the tribalistic views we hold have kept us from uniting.

Segun thinks "not yet." According to him, "Nigeria is a 'colonial container' with diverse but great contents whose harmony depends on the knowledge and understanding [that] Hunger, sorrow, poverty, joy, laughter, have no language or colour."

I live under the illusion that Nigeria is one because I fear civil war. If young musicians use multiple Nigerian languages, isn't that proof of our one-ness?
